Private Residence

This was a refurbishment and extension of an existing 1930s colonial farmhouse in a valley in the Usambara Mountains. Prior to renovation the building had been in a derelict, non-habitable state. As part of this sensitive renovation, additional rooms and accommodation were provided. The project also includes a self-contained guest building, and full landscaping of 30 acres of farming land and decorative gardens.

The challenge and satisfaction of this project was to take a disused building, which had not been occupied for more than 10 years, and to effectively bring it back to life as a family holiday home in one of the most beautiful parts of Tanzania.
